Performances - Secondary Schools
Storytelling shows are:
approx.45 - 60 minutes long
3 or 4 stories carefully selected and crafted for the age group
told with energy, expression and traditional storytelling stile

'Bringing Stories Alive'
combines stories from diverse repertoire suitable to the age group including:

traditional folk and fairy tales from around the world

eg - 'Oh, Luck of the Ugly', 'Prince Lindworm', 'Giant With No Heart', 'Kassa the Brave', 'Thomas Rhuag the Seal Catcher',
family, personal stories and contemporary
eg - 'Possum Hunting', 'Platypus', 'Capt John Burke - Brisbane Hero'
tall stories, yarns and anecdotes from city and country
eg - 'The Galah Tree', 'The Ghost of Vulture Street', 'The Underground Classroom', 'The Big Red Roo'
improvised performer/audience creations
- brand new stories created on the spot with the audience illustrating narrative structure

(I'm happy to select stories on the day depending on the audience - age, energy, situation etc - or agree discuss stories that are likely to fit in with your class, subject or school needs. I can select stories and format sessions to fit in with subjects such as Drama or specific topics or issues such as bullying or cultural understanding.)

Special shows:
Outback Stories
Sit down beside the camp fire and have an entertaining yarn with a storyteller. Select from a range of tall stories, yarns and anecdotes to suit the age mix of the audience. Stories provide students with an insight into a range of outback experiences from stage coaches to school sports in the country.

A performance designed to present different story and storytelling styles appropriate for telling to different aged audiences - eg preschool, primary

Charges:

Regional performances
The above prices apply to the South East Queensland area only. This includes:- Greater Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast (~ to Noosa), Brisbane Valley and Toowoomba area. I welcome enquiries from other areas and am more than happy to provide a quote. This might include a component for travelling and accommodation and/or a request for assistance in obtaining a number of bookings in your area.

For indoor performances
Small groups (in Brisbane area only) - $6.00 per student with a minimum of $120 per show

Medium groups - $4.80 per student with a minimum of $168.00 per show

Large groups - $3.60 per student with a minimum of $360 per show

For outdoor performances (including covered areas)
$5.50 per student with a minimum of $180.00 per show.
(Sound system will most likely be necessary. Generally speaking an indoor venue such as library, classroom or small hall creates a much better atmosphere for traditional storytelling shows than outside or large sports halls.)
